Transparent reporting on programme reach, cost structure, and financial controls
2025 Programme Results
Educational Outcome
In 2025, 97% of Ngaara Primary School's Primary 7 candidates achieved Division 1 or 2 in the national Primary Leaving Examination. Zero failures. The highest Division 1 count in fifteen years of recorded data.
This is well above typical outcomes in comparable rural government schools in Uganda.
Note: correlation, not causation. A well-nourished child who attends school consistently, in a school that is not managing a food crisis, performs better. The meal programme removes one variable from a complex system. That is what it is designed to do.

Cost Efficiency
99% of all income received by Ngaara School Meals is directed to the programme — food ingredients and fuel. Approximately 1% covers organisational overhead.
All expenditure is receipted by our on-the-ground lead in Uganda, reviewed by trustees in Ireland, and reconciled against the approved term budget. Receipts, summaries, and evidence are reviewed at the end of every term.
Annual Impact Reports
Our annual impact reports summarise programme reach, cost structure, and financial controls for each year.
Reports are added annually following trustee approval.
Governance
Ngaara School Meals is a registered Irish charity regulated by the Irish Charities Regulatory Authority (CRA). We are fully compliant with the Charities Governance Code, which sets out six principles and 32 core standards for charitable organisations in Ireland.
Our governance framework includes a financial controls policy, risk management framework, donor compliance policy, and a formal partnership agreement with Ngaara Primary School.
Annual Activity Reports and Compliance Statements are submitted to the CRA within the required timeframe each year.
